Getting started
What Eavesy is, the ways to capture, and the fastest path to your first note.
Eavesy is a small Mac app that keeps what you say, hear, see and copy as plain files on your disk. Each capture becomes Markdown you can paste into an AI agent, open in any editor, or let an agent read over MCP.
Eavesy is free and open source. The Mac app works without an account. Signing in adds cloud transcripts, briefs, search and sync.
Ways to capture

Recording from your Mac adds no bot to your calls. For a Meet or Teams call you can't record from your Mac, you can send the Notetaker, which joins as a visible participant. Either way, you are responsible for telling people when you record them.
Your first capture
- Install the Mac app. Download the DMG or
run
brew install --cask williamrogersdev/eavesy/eavesy. - Open Eavesy with ⌘⇧Space. Grant the Microphone permission when asked.
- Press ⌘⇧D, say a sentence, and press ⌘⇧D again. If your cursor was in a text field, the words are pasted there.
- Open the launcher again to see the capture. It is also saved as a folder in
~/Eavesy/Recordings.
From here you can record a meeting, copy the Markdown into an agent, or connect an agent over MCP.
With or without an account
Without an account, everything stays on your Mac. Talk gives you on-device text, and meetings get on-device live captions while they run.
When you sign in at eavesy.com, the Mac app also uploads audio so you get:
- a full cloud transcript that replaces the live captions,
- a brief with a title, summary, decisions and action items,
- search and chat across your recordings, and
- access for agents over MCP.
You can also record in the browser without installing anything. Browser recordings need an account.
