Capturing

Screenshots, clipboard and notes

Keep a screenshot, whatever you copied, a quick note, or a file you drop in.

Not everything an agent needs is a recording. The launcher also keeps screenshots, clipboard text and images, notes, and files.

On the Mac, these are files on your disk. When you are signed in, notes (including clipboard text and dropped Markdown or text files), screenshots and pasted images are also uploaded to your account so they appear on your other signed-in Macs. Screenshots and images show in the web app too; notes don't yet. Signed out, they all stay on this Mac. Imported audio and video files are never uploaded. What is uploaded can be searched and read by an agent you connect over MCP.

Screenshots

Open the launcher with ⌘⇧Space and choose Screenshot, then pick an area of your screen. Screenshots need macOS 14 or later and the Screen Recording permission.

Screenshots you take with macOS itself can be added too. Turn on Settings → Screenshots → Add macOS screenshots automatically.

Clipboard

Copy something, open the launcher, and press ⌘V. Text is saved as a note and an image is saved as a PNG.

Notes

Press N in the launcher to jump to the composer and write a quick note. The composer also takes pasted text and dropped files.

Import files

Drop a file onto the launcher to keep a copy of it:

  • images (PNG, JPEG, HEIC, GIF, WebP, TIFF, BMP) are kept as images,
  • Markdown and plain text files become notes, up to 1 MB, and
  • audio (M4A, MP3, WAV, AAC, AIFF, CAF, FLAC) and video (MP4, MOV, M4V) files are kept as they are.

The capture takes the file's name as its title.

Folders can't be dropped. Drop the files inside instead.

What gets saved

Each item gets its own folder in your recordings folder, with one file and a capture.json: note.md for notes, image.png for images, or screenshot.png for screenshots. Imported files keep their extension, for example image.jpg or audio.mp3. See your files for names and layout.

On the web

The web app has its own capture bar for screenshots, screen and webcam video, and audio. Those are uploaded to your account. See Eavesy on the web.
