What stays on your Mac, what goes to the cloud, who processes it, and how to export or delete it.
What stays on your Mac
Without an account, nothing leaves your Mac. Captures are files in your recordings folder, and Talk text and live captions are made on-device.
Imported audio and video files stay on your Mac even when you're signed in. Notes, including clipboard text and dropped Markdown or text files, upload once you sign in (see below).
What goes to the cloud
When you sign in, the Mac app uploads recording audio (Talk, Meeting and Video) so it can be transcribed and summarized. Your account then holds the audio, transcripts, briefs, notes and search index for those recordings.
A signed-in Mac also uploads its screenshots, pasted images and notes to your account, so they appear in the history on your other signed-in Macs. Screenshots and images also show in the web app. Sign out and new ones stay on that Mac only. Delete a screenshot or image in the web app to remove the cloud copy. Notes don't show in the web app yet, so their cloud copies go when you delete your account.
The web app stores what you make there: browser recordings, capture bar screenshots and videos, dictations and drops.
When you send the Notetaker to a call, it records the call's audio, the participants' display names and who was speaking when. It doesn't record video. The notetaker runs on Cloudflare, and its recordings are stored and deleted like your other recordings.
Data is encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest with Cloudflare-managed encryption.

Eavesy does not train models on your content. Cloudflare and Anthropic state that customer content is not used for training unless the customer opts in. If you connect OpenRouter, the privacy settings you choose there apply.
Your own AI keys
In the web app under Settings → AI providers, you can connect your OpenRouter account or add an Anthropic API key. Summaries and chat then bill to your account. Keys are entered on the web and stored encrypted. Requests still pass through Eavesy so it can build the prompt.
The Mac app keeps only its device token in your Keychain. It never holds your AI keys.
Export
- Everything: in the web app, open Settings → Your data and choose Export everything.
- One recording: download its bundle from the recording's page.
- On a Mac: your files are already on disk.
Exports count toward the fair-use limits.
Delete
- One recording: delete it in the app. Its cloud copies, including audio, transcript and search index, are permanently removed within a day.
- One note: deleting it on a Mac removes it from that Mac only. Its cloud copy stays until you delete your account.
- Your account: open Settings → Your data and choose Delete. Everything in the cloud is removed and your Mac is signed out.
Deleting in the cloud never touches the files on your Mac.
