Notetaker
Send the Eavesy Notetaker to a Google Meet or Teams call you can't record from your Mac.
The Mac app records calls without anything joining them. When you can't record from your Mac (you're on another computer, on your phone, or not in the call at all), you can send the Eavesy Notetaker instead. It joins the call as a participant and records it for you.
It works with Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. Zoom isn't supported yet.
Everyone in the call sees "Eavesy Notetaker" join, and it posts in the chat that it's transcribing. Tell people it records, and follow your organization's policy and the consent rules where you and they are.
Send it
- In the web app, open Notetaker.
- Paste the meeting link, from
meet.google.comor a Teams invite. - Leave Start time empty to send it now, or pick a time up to 60 days ahead.
- If the meeting has a waiting room or lobby, admit Eavesy Notetaker when it asks to join.
You can have up to 10 notetakers scheduled or in calls at once. Cancel one before it joins, or choose Make it leave to end its recording early.
During and after the call
The transcript fills in while the call goes on, a minute or so behind. Open it from the notetaker's row or from your library.
Lines are labelled with the name of whoever the call shows speaking. When the call doesn't show who is speaking, lines aren't attributed to anyone.
When the call ends, the notetaker leaves and a brief is written on top of the transcript, the same as for a recording from your Mac.
When it leaves
The notetaker leaves on its own when:
- the meeting ends, or it's removed from the call,
- everyone else has left,
- nobody else joined within 15 minutes,
- nobody admitted it from the waiting room within 15 minutes, or
- it has been in the call for 4 hours.
When it can't join
- The meeting only admits signed-in accounts or people in the organization. The notetaker joins as a guest, so meetings that turn guests away can't be recorded this way. Ask the organizer to allow guests, or record from your Mac.
- Nobody admitted it. Someone in the call has to let it in from the waiting room or lobby.
- The link isn't a meeting. Paste the full link from the invite.
The notetaker's row says why it didn't record.
What it records
Only the call's audio, plus the participants' display names and who was speaking when. It doesn't record video or the screen. The audio, transcript and brief are stored and deleted like your other recordings. Privacy and your data →
